BalletBallet is a graceful and disciplined dance style that forms the foundation of many other dance genres. At Starsteps, we offer ballet as part of all core classes for all ages and abilities, focusing on posture, technique, musicality, expression and learning correct terminology right from the start. Students develop strength, flexibility, and coordination while learning traditional ballet movements. Classes follow a structured syllabus and can lead to performance opportunities and optional examinations through our examination board, ABD. We also teach ballet from the iPath syllabus and also free work. Whether your child is taking their first steps in dance or aiming for advanced training, ballet provides a beautiful and rewarding journey. Tap DanceTap Dance is a fun, energetic style where dancers use their feet to create exciting rhythms and sounds with special tap shoes. At Starsteps, tap is part of all core classes from age 5 and although it can be tricky to master, it is upbeat and engaging, helping students develop coordination, timing, and musicality. Lessons combine traditional tap steps with creative choreography, making it a great way to build rhythm and confidence. Students can enjoy performing and have the option to take ABD exams as they progress through the levels. Modern JazzModern Jazz is a dynamic and expressive dance style that blends the energy of jazz with contemporary movement. At Starsteps, we offer modern jazz in all core classes, including Pre-Infant which is a new addition for this September! They focus on technique, strength, and creativity, helping children develop rhythm, flexibility, and performance skills as well as kicks, leaps and turns. Perfect for all ages and levels, modern jazz is fun and encourages individuality and musical expression. Students can also take ABD exams to track their progress and learn choreographed routines for performances. We also teach modern jazz from the iPath syllabus and also free work. Introduction to DanceOur Introduction to Dance class is where it all begins! Suitable for ages 3 to 5 years, our super fun Saturday morning class covers the very basics of Ballet and Modern Jazz and uses engaging props such as teddy bears, magic wands and musical instruments to make it all the more magical! At the end of every half term children take home a personalised achievement certificate to pop on the fridge or keep in their memory box. Please note that although parents must stay on site, children take part in their class independently however parents are invited into the studio each term to see what we have been learning. |
Musical TheatreMusical Theatre dance combines acting, singing, and dancing to bring stories to life on stage. At Starsteps, musical theatre classes help students build confidence, performance skills, and stage presence through fun and energetic exercises and routines and team building activities. Starting this September, our popular musical theatre class will incorporate iPaths 'Broadway Dance' syllabus giving students a more in-depth look at the varying styles of dance musical theatre Suitable from age 9 with solid reading and comprehension skills. This class can be taken as a standalone class or taken alongside core classes. Acro DanceAcrobatic Arts is an internationally recognised program for Acro Dance, which combines acrobatics and dance, created for the stage. Classes involve cardio, stretching, balancing, limbering and tumbling and with hard work and perseverance children will learn the safe progressions of acrobatic tricks such as somersaults, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, walkovers and more! Acro classes are available as standalone classes however it is highly recommended that they are taken alongside core classes as ballet technique plays an important part in the progress of acro dancers. PBTProgressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is a specialised training program that helps dancers improve their strength, alignment, and muscle memory—especially for ballet. PBT is used as a supportive extra to build core stability, turnout control, and overall body awareness. Using simple equipment like exercise balls, resistance bands, and mats, students learn how to properly engage the right muscles for ballet movements. PBT is great for all levels and helps young dancers build a strong foundation safely and effectively. Whilst we do not currently have a gap in the timetable to run a full time PBT class, look out for our short courses and workshops. |
