Positive Progress, Exams & Medal Tests
At Starsteps Dance School we believe in rewarding children as they progress through new challenges. Examinations are optional although we do recommend that children take official A.B.D (Associated Board of Dance) examinations and Medal Tests if offered the chance. We offer Medal Tests for all ages from Infant 1 classes and Graded Examination from Primary level for Infant 2 classes. Exams are not as scary as they sound and can do wonders for the children's confidence and self-belief! Our examination board is OFQUAL and GQAL registered so these dance exams can really help to shape your child's future in such a positive way! We will never force a child into an exam or enter a child who is not ready for an exam, taking that worry away from both you and your child. We carry stickers for our youngest dancers , as well as Starsteps Star cards and Achievement Certificates to hand out to children who have made exceptional effort or progress in class. Exam entries will always be based on good knowledge of the necessary work and a good attendance rate. |
Associated Board of Dance Graded Examinations & Medal Tests Following the return of our classes after lockdown, as teachers we have really felt the need to bring more creativity into our classes to help our young dancers find their confidence and self expression again. We feel so passionately that it is most important for our younger dancers to simply enjoy being in a creative space and learning the basic skills in their own time that graded examinations aren't necessary for children below Primary grade (around age 7 - 8) however the option of more performance based Medal Tests will be available to some of our younger dancers to boost confidence and become familiar with the exam day process! All of the necessary progressions will be followed to prepare children for their futures in dance. |
